Mike and Vanessa’s first grandchild Boyd was portrayed by five actors, including two sets of twins, from Seasons 1 through 8. Yet Boyd disappeared in the ninth and final season. “We have such a great cast, and it’s a big cast,” showrunner Kevin Abbott tells TVLine. “Every week, we struggle to give all the characters something to do, and another regular just eats up real estate. There are only so many lines in a show, and if Boyd was saying them, then somebody else wasn’t, and we just didn’t have a ton of Boyd storylines."

They prob would’ve needed to age him and didn’t wanna recast a fourth time

To me, Boyd still deserved an appearance even if it was just a here and there slot and with him being one of the youngest characters, a here and there spot would've made perfect sense.
