Default Gossip Girl: The 5 Most (& 5 Least) Realistic Storylines

https://screenrant.com/gossip-girl-m...es-teen-drama/

Quote:
10
Most Realistic: Serena Betrayed Her Best Friend By Sleeping With Her Boyfriend

Serena and Blair were often competitive and while they eventually figured out how to be kinder to each other, it's safe to say that their friendship was tough at the beginning of Gossip Girl.

At the start of season 1, Blair let Serena know that she was aware of her big secret: that Serena had sex with Blair's boyfriend Nate. This was a horrible betrayal but a realistic one, as Serena was insecure and dealing with a lot in her family life, and it made sense that she would have made this decision and thought it would solve her problems. Of course, it only made things worse.

9
Least Realistic: Serena Thought She Murdered Someone

It's fair to say that Serena is Gossip Girl's protagonist as many of the storylines revolve around her and her past. She has a lot of secrets over the show's six seasons, and this one is definitely the worst.

Serena shared with Blair that she had been keeping something silent: she hooked up with a guy named Pete and made a sex tape. Then he died. She thought that she had murdered him, but it turns out that he overdosed. This was a melodramatic storyline that didn't feel particularly realistic. Serena was a good person and yet she always got herself into awful situations. Most people don't walk around thinking that they committed this type of crime, so it seemed odd that she didn't realize that Pete died because of drug abuse.

8
Most Realistic: Dan Had To Choose Between Serena And Vanessa

Fans liked Dan and Vanessa's relationship because they were friends first and they could relate to each other since they were the cool, alternative, hipster characters in the series. Vanessa had always been in love with Dan and wanted to be more than pals.

In the season 1 episode "The Handmaiden's Tale," Dan had to pick who he wanted to date, as he was falling for Serena but Vanessa liked him, too. This is totally logical, as it's possible to have feelings for two people at once, and it made sense that Dan would wonder who he should be with.

7
Least Realistic: Blair Dated An Actual Lord

In the second season, Blair dated Lord Marcus Beaton, and this felt like a random and over-the-top storyline.

Blair spent a lot of time figuring out how she could be royalty, too, which begs the question: why not focus on more realistic goals? She was still in high school and she could have dated someone who was a regular teenager like her. While Blair was unhappy at home and it wasn't healthy for her to be the Queen Bee at school, this romance didn't make much sense.

6
Most Realistic: Blair Played Matchmaker For Serena And Dan

In the season 5 episode "Crazy, Cupid, Love," Blair wanted Dan and Serena to start dating again and realize how much they cared about each other.

This was one of the most realistic storylines on Gossip Girl, as it made sense that Blair would want her friends to be happy. There are so many times when people want to meddle in their friends' love lives, and they usually don't want to create conflict or cause a scene. Blair didn't mind getting involved and she was definitely right to do so.

5
Least Realistic: Jenny Tried To Get Emancipated

Jenny had a horrible time on Gossip Girl as the other characters didn't treat her very well. All she wanted was to be loved, popular, and accepted, but trying to fit in with Blair and her minions wasn't the best decision.

Jenny wanted to get emancipated, but this was a wild storyline that didn't make sense. Her dad, Rufus, was always supportive of her and Dan's creative personalities, and Rufus wasn't in the wrong for wanting his daughter to stay in school and be safe and healthy. Jenny didn't realize that she was too young and naive to really and properly take care of herself.

4
Most Realistic: Chuck Finally Stopped Playing Games And Proposed To Blair

For most of Gossip Girl, Chuck and Blair were horrible to each other. They were in love but couldn't admit that they wanted to stop hurting each other and just be together.

In the final season, Chuck finally stopped his game playing and asked Blair to marry him. This was a sweet and romantic moment, and it was super meaningful since the couple had been through so much pain in the past few years. It made sense that Chuck would wake up and want to spend his life with the woman he loved.

3
Least Realistic: Georgina Tried To Ruin Blair's Life Even In College

In the season 3 episode "The Freshman," Blair learned that Georgina was her roommate. This was proof that she couldn't escape Georgina and that she would be terrorizing her in college, too.

Georgina was an evil character who bullied others and wanted to make them miserable. But while many people deal with mean girls in high school, it didn't make sense that Georgina would go out of her way to keep bullying Blair in college. Didn't she want to move on with her life? Didn't she have her own goals and dreams? This was over the top.

2
Most Realistic: Blair Was Upset About Her Dad Ignoring Thanksgiving

In the season 1 episode "Blair Waldorf Must Pie!" Blair was upset that her Thanksgiving celebration wasn't going the way that she wanted.

Blair was often neglected by her father, who didn't take the time to get in touch with her or visit her very often. This was a realistic storyline, as many people can sadly and unfortunately relate to having trouble dealing with family members.

1
Least Realistic: Bart Bass Only Pretended To Die

Chuck's father Bass was cruel to him and the two didn't have a loving relationship or see eye to eye. In the second season, it seemed like Bart died, but it turned out that this wasn't the case.

Chuck learned that while the car accident was real, Bart didn't actually die. He gave a doctor at the hospital money to tell everyone that he passed away. This seems like a wild storyline and even all these years later, it's hard to believe that Bart would really pretend to be dead.
