https://www.tmz.com/2021/01/12/saved...alized-cancer/

The 44-year-old Screech actor has been in the hospital since over the weekend. "Our sources say his medical team is concerned it's cancer, and they're conducting a biopsy to get answers," reports TMZ. "We're told Dustin's family has a history of cancer -- his mother died of breast cancer -- but it's unclear what kind of cancer they suspect in his case."

Saved by the Bell's Dustin Diamond diagnosed with stage 4 cancer

The 44-year-old former Screech actor, who was hospitalized over the weekend in Florida after feeling pain throughout his body, has received a stage 4 cancer diagnosis and has begun chemotherapy treatment, a rep for the actor tells EW. "He's undergoing chemo so he will be there at least another week and then we will figure out when he gets to come home," says the rep. "By next week, we'll have a much better understanding of the severity of his condition and what treatments he will need so that he's comfortable." The rep adds that Diamond is feeling "fine" today. "He was fading in and out, feeling sleepy and tired," says the rep. "On top of all this he also has shingles, so he's been in a lot of pain."

Mario Lopez Connects with Saved by the Bell Co-Star Dustin Diamond After Stage 4 Cancer Diagnosis

Diamond's reps remain optimistic that a deal can be worked out to bring his Screech into the Peacock "Saved by the Bell" revival series, should it get picked up for a second season.

After representatives for OG "Saved by the Bell" star Dustin Diamond confirmed that the 44-year-old actor remains hospitalized amid his battle with stage 4 cancer, his former co-star Mario Lopez was able to touch base with him.

Sharing with his own followers on Thursday evening, Lopez wrote that "although the news of his diagnosis is heartbreaking, we remain positive that main positive that main positive he'll overcome this."

Lopez, who also stars in the recently launched "Saved by the Bell" revival series on Peacock, added that he is sending prayers to Diamond and his family "for a speedy recovery."

On Thursday afternoon, Diamond's manager confirmed published reports with TMZ that Diamond had cancer and had already begun treatment. He also shared that the cancer has spread throughout his body. The diagnosis came after Diamond discovered a lump on his throat.

Diamond's rep says that he's also been experiencing pain all throughout his body, which is the result of him having shingles.

"It's serious, but we don't know how serious yet," representatives for the actor told EW. "He's at an undisclosed hospital in Florida and will probably go home after treatments. We just want him to get well soon."

Diamond's diagnosis comes on the heels of renewed interest in "Saved by the Bell," thanks to the popular and well-received revival on Peacock. While several of the OG cast appear in the show, with Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley on board as series regulars, Diamond has not appeared.

Fans had been questioning his absence and clamoring for his involvement since the show's return was announced. Lark Voorhies, who makes a brief appearance in the first season, suggested that it might have been an issue of "the almighty dollar."

"He wants to be paid and respected," she told Toronto's KiSS 92.5 FM. We would love for him to come back on set. He's going through his growing pains… He's going through his adult issues and all of that but I am sure he'll be back — granted they have the perfect contract for him, I'm sure he would be back."

Diamond's representatives remain optimistic that a deal can be worked out, telling EW, "They've been talking, so we're keeping our fingers crossed." Peacock has not yet announced a renewal for the series, but it seems likely considering its tremendous buzz, acclaim and popularity.

That's not to say that Diamond's Screech has been completely ignored. In fact, it was Lopez' Slater who offered the rest of the cast an update on what he's been up to, reporting that he's currently living on the International Space Station with his robot assistant, Kevin.

While absolutely ridiculous a premise -- it would allow for scenes to be filmed with Diamond without him having to even be on the set, should his recovery make that difficult.

If a deal can be worked out, it would be a fun way to honor his his importance to the franchise without jeopardizing his health.

If one person can bounce back from stage four, so can another. 90's country singer Wade Hayes was hit with stage four colon cancer in late 2011. Not only was the right kind of recovery made, but his full head of hair remained intact during the six months of chemo that he endured. May Dustin have the same story to share with the rest of us!

God bless you and him and Wade always!!!

Saved By The Bell star Dustin Diamond, 44, is 'going through a lot of pain' during Stage 4 cancer

Quote:
"Dustin Diamond is 'going through a lot of pain' amid his cancer battle.

The 44-year-old actor – who is best known for his role as Samuel 'Screech' Powers in Saved By The Bell – was taken to hospital in Florida earlier this month after feeling pain all over his body, and it was later confirmed he is suffering from stage four cancer.

And now, sources have said the actor is 'going to be in the hospital for a while' as he undergoes treatment, and going through 'ups and downs' both physically and emotionally.

The insider said: 'It's not good, it's not good at all. He's going to be in the hospital for a while. He's getting through his treatments now. It's tough, it's very hard.

'He's going through a lot of pain, but he still keeps his spirits up. Right now, he's just suffering. He has his ups and downs where he's great one minute, but then he can be in a lot of pain - tears. It's such an emotional time.'

But Dustin has the full support of his loved ones, who are 'calling him every day' to make sure he's okay.

The source added to Us Weekly magazine: 'Those close to him try calling him every day to try to cheer him up. He has a handful of people who are in his close circle — his girlfriend being one of them. They have no idea when he can go home.'

Dustin's hospitalization was reported on January 12, and just says later, a representative for the actor confirmed the news.

His rep said: 'At this time we can confirm that Dustin does have cancer. Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made.

'We ask everyone to respect Dustin's privacy during this difficult time. All positivity and prayers are appreciated.'

Dustin's team also provided fans with postal and email addresses to send letters to the actor to send their support but stressed they shouldn't be used for autograph requests.
Dustin Diamond completes first round of chemotherapy after his Stage 4 cancer diagnosis

The Saved by the Bell alum is expected to complete a second round, his spokesperson says. "Dustin is looking forward to spending more time with his girlfriend, playing his bass guitar/video games, as well as making videos for his fans on social media," Diamond's rep said in a statement.

Default RIP Dustin "Screech" Diamond

https://www.tmz.com/2021/02/01/dusti...ancer-screech/

Actor Dustin Diamond, best known for his role as Samuel "Screech" Powers for 12 years, ages 11-22, on TV's "Saved by the Bell," has died at age 44.

Per the above link, Dustin, born on January 7, 1977 in San Jose, California, was given a confirmed diagnosis of Lung Cancer just days after his Birthday after the New Year this year; unfortunately, despite a round of Chemo, his Lung Cancer was more aggressive than that of Alex Trebek, and Dustin only survived 3 short weeks from Cancer diagnosis to death.

His publicist revealed Dustin passed away in the Florida hospital where he'd been treated for Lung Cancer since his confirmed diagnosis.

The original Pilot for "Saved by the Bell" was conceived as a sitcom vehicle for Hayley Mills in 1987 on NBC under its original title "Good Morning, Miss Bliss"; after the Pilot's Summer 1987 telecast, NBC initially passed over on the concept, which was soon picked up by the then-premium Disney Channel.

After 13 episodes, Disney Channel cancelled the series, and NBC picked up the show as its first live-action Saturday-morning sitcom, "Saved by the Bell."

After the original "Class" graduated in 1993 to "Saved by the Bell: The College Years" in prime-time for a single full season, the original series was re-named "Saved by the Bell: The New Class," with Dustin's "Screech" returning to the original series in 1994 alongside Dennis Haskins as Principal Richard Belding. The final bell rang on "Saved by the Bell" in December 1999, with the final bell ringing in January 2000, after which Dustin Diamond began a new life as a stand-up comic--as well as released his infamous 2006 Sex Tape, later admitting to using a stunt man for his Penis throughout the Sex Tape.

He also, via a Ghostwriter, wrote a memoir called "Behind the Bell," telling tales (later proven false) of controversial Orgies among others in the cast.

In 2016, on an episode of the newsmagazine "Extra," Dustin made peace with then-anchor Mario Lopez (who played Slater in Seasons 2-5 of "Saved by the Bell" and its prime-time spin-off) with a clean slate.

Funeral services as of this writing are pending.
