"For Your Love" and "Eve" Actress Natalie Desselle-Reid Dead at 53

Actress Natalie Desselle-Reid, best known to TV audiences as Janie Egins on the UPN sitcom "Eve", has died. She was 53.

The news was confirmed Monday morning on Desselle-Reid’s Instagram account.

“It is with extremely heavy hearts that we share the loss of our beautiful Natalie this morning,” read the caption. “She was a bright light in this world. A queen. An extraordinary mother and wife. Her diverse career touched so many and she will be loved forever. Naturally, we are grieving and processing this profound loss and we thank you in advance for respecting our privacy at this extremely difficult time.”

Desselle-Reid had reportedly been battling colon cancer.

Reid, who has died of colon cancer, co-starred with the rapper and current The Talk co-host Eve on her self-titled UPN sitcom from 2003 to 2006, playing friend Janie Egins. “Can’t believe it. Rest in Peace @nataliedessellereid thank you for your light and spirit. Prayers, peace and blessings. Please pray for her family,” Eve captioned an Instagram post featuring a picture of Reid smiling. Fellow Eve co-star Jason George also paid tribute, tweeting: "For 3 of the most fun years of my life I worked side by side with #NatalieDesselleReid on #Eve. Effortlessly hilarious, inherently empathetic, Natalie was instantly every woman’s girlfriend and every guy’s sister.

I’m watching Madea’s Big Happy Family and she was so talented as an actress. She is really showing her acting chops in the scenes with Kimberly.
