"Al Michaels has never eaten a vegetable. This has been reported before, but I’m here to tell you it’s absolutely true," says Drew Magary, who shared a meal with the legendary Sunday Night Football broadcaster in fall 2019. "Growing up, Al refused to eat them and was never forced to because, even back then, being Al Michaels had its privileges. Al’s mother, who was 18 when she gave birth to him, indulged her son by frying him up cheap cuts of steak and lamb chops instead. His wife of 54 years, Linda, tried to get him to eat vegetables early in their marriage, but told me she quickly ruled it a lost cause." Michaels will go so far as to have his meal re-plated if he orders a burger and it comes with lettuce. “I don’t want to have the residue. Sometimes, the lettuce might leak a little bit," says Michaels.

Seriously though, thanks TMC for starting interesting topics all over the boards, especially in the General section.

I find Al Michaels to be overrated. Sure he had a great call during the 1980 Olympics when the USA hockey team captured the gold, and he's pretty versatile, but I don't see why he's considered top-tier in each the of 4 major team sports he's called.

And WTH about not eating vegetables? No problem with him loving meat, but he's missing a ton of variety by cutting an entire category of food out of his diet.

Potatoes are tubers, not vegetables.

Tomatoes and cucumbers are fruits even though we treat them as vegetables and put them in salads.

He does drink V8 from what I heard from his own wife in another article.

What the hell is his logic for not eating vegetables?? Even meat lovers eat fruits and/or vegetables sometimes!
