Eurythmics musician David Stewart recently said on Joss Stone’s A Cuppa Happy podcast that the former president of the Soviet Union once told him that the 1978-91 CBS primetime soap gave Soviet residents ideas about living in the United States. “He said that had more effect, that half-hour or whatever it was, than anything else,” Stewart said recalling an old conversation with the Soviet leader. Stewart added: “They thought that’s how people live in United States...Obviously they don’t.”
