Default Jessica Alba says she wasn't allowed to look into eyes of 90210 cast

She said that if she looked into their eyes for their scenes she would be thrown off the set.

Jessica Alba reveals she wasn't allowed to make eye contact with any Beverly Hills 90210 star | Daily Mail Online

Quote:
Before her breakout success on Dark Angel, Jessica Alba appeared in two 1998 episodes of Beverly Hills 90210, though the actress revealed the cast wasn't exactly welcoming.

The 39-year-old actress appeared on Hot Ones on Thursday, where she opened up about her role as pregnant teenager Leanne.

She revealed that during her time on the set, she wasn't even allowed to look the main casts members in the eye.

'I couldn’t even make eye contact with any of the cast members, which was really strange when you’re, like, trying to do a scene with them,' Alba explained.

'It was like, "You’re not allowed to make eye contact with any one of the cast members or you’ll be thrown off the set,"' she added.

Alba appeared on 90210 in the eighth season, where the series regulars were Jason Priestley (Brendan Walsh), Jennie Garth (Kelly Taylor), Ian Ziering (Steve Sanders), Brian Austin Green (David Silver), Tori Spelling (Donna Martin), Tiffani Thiessen (Valerie Malone), Joe E. Tata (Nat Bussichio) and Vincent Young (Noah Hunter).

Original stars such as Shannen Doherty (Brenda Walsh), Luke Perry (Dylan McKay) and Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea Zuckerman).

Alba is not the first actress to speak out about behavior on the Beverly Hills 90210 set, with Thiessen telling Howard Stern in 2012 that Garth and Spelling, 'were not very nice to me.'

After the original show went off the air in 2000, it was rebooted in 2008 on The CW Network, which lasted five seasons.

One of the reboot stars, AnnaLynne McCord, also told US Weekly in November 2019 that the original stars weren't too welcoming either.

Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling respond to Jessica Alba's allegation that she couldn't make eye contact on Beverly Hills, 90210 set

In a teaser for their upcoming 90210MG iHeartRadio podcast, the stars discussed the recent allegation made by Alba, who recently said she "couldn’t even make eye contact with any of the cast members" when she appeared on the drama in two episodes in 1998. "Tori, did you — I just need to know, did you tell her not to look me in the eye?" asked Garth. "Why's it all about you?" Spelling asked with a laugh. Last week on the Hot Ones YouTube series, Alba said: “On the set of 90210, I couldn’t even make eye contact with any of the cast members, which was really strange when you’re, like, trying to do a scene with them. Yeah, it was like, ‘You’re not allowed to make eye contact with any one of the cast members or you’ll be thrown off the set.'” ALSO: Spelling says she's upset by the allegation because she wipes "my child's a**" with Alba's Honest Company baby wipes.

Tori Spelling and Jennie Garth are launching a Beverly Hills, 90210 podcast

The real-life friends announced their iHeartRadio podcast, 9021OMG, timed for the Fox teen drama's 30th anniversary on Sunday. 9021OMG launches Nov. 9. "Fans always say to us, 'We can't believe you're actually best friends,'" says Spelling. "We wanted to do a girlfriends podcast and then blended it with 90210 to do it for the fans. We have a lot to talk about. It's going to be really fun!"

Jason Priestley responds to Jessica Alba's claim she wasn't allowed to make eye contact on the Beverly Hills, 90210 set

“Don’t look at the stars of the show was never an edict that came down on our show," said Priestley on The Roz & Mocha Show. "I don’t know who told Jessica Alba not to look at us. None of us on that show thought we were MC Hammer.”

Ian Ziering isn't "doubting" Jessica Alba's "no eye contact" claim on the Beverly Hills, 90210 set

"I'm not doubting that was her experience," he tells Access Hollywood. "It saddens me because it lessened the experience for her—certainly didn't slow her down in life—but it's hard to hear that there was any negativity on the set."

Brian Austin Green doubts anyone "reputable" told Jessica Alba not to make eye contact with the Beverly Hills, 90210 cast

Green is the latest to weigh in on Alba's no eye contact claim that she made on the YouTube series Hot Ones. "I never worked with Jessica," Green said on The Jenny McCarthy Show on SiriusXM. "I never met her on set. I wasn't there, but that's — I don't think she heard that from anyone reputable, like, that was really around us, because that wasn't ever our policy on set. The one thing that we really were good about on our set was making people feel welcome and feel like they were a part of the family and what we were doing, and they were a part of the team. So I can't imagine that at all. And I can't imagine that she heard that from somebody close enough to us that it was a direct reflection of any one of us."

Christine Elise backtracks and apologizes after calling Jessica Alba's Beverly Hills, 90210 "no eye contact" claim a "f***ing lie"

Elise, whose last appearance on the Fox drama was four years before Alba's 90210 guest stint, has expressed regret for her comments on The Beverly Hills, 90210 Podcast accusing Alba of lying about being told not to make eye contact when she guested on the show in 1998. "That whole ‘don’t make eye contact’ (claim) is — I’m gonna call it what it is — it’s a f***ing lie," she said on the podcast. Elise later issued a statement on Instagram, saying of Alba: "First of all—I have never met her but have always admired her work. I am certain she is a lovely woman...Secondly, anyone who knows me at all knows that I swear with unapologetic abandon, so quotes read without tone of voice can be misinterpreted and seem more angry than they ever were." Elise added that what Alba said didn't reflect the set she worked on.

Jennie Garth takes small jab at Jessica Alba while interviewing another former 90210 Guest Star

Quote:
Garth, 48, recently reunited with Moss, who played Kelly’s “stalker” Tara on the ‘90s drama, for an episode of the “Beverly Hills, 90210 Show” podcast. During their chat, Moss, 47, revealed there were specific rules about filming the 1996 episode in which Tara pulled a gun on Kelly.

“At that time you couldn’t put the gun directly at Kelly. So I had to hold it straight up. I remember having to figure out, like, what am I going to do with this gun if I can’t point it,” Moss recalled. “Those were the rules.”

Garth replied with a jab at Alba, 39, who claimed earlier this month that she was told she wasn’t “allowed to make eye contact with any one of the cast members” or she’d “be thrown off the set” when she guest-starred on season 8 of 90210.

“Apparently you can’t point a gun at anyone or look at anyone in the eye,” Garth quipped on the Wednesday, October 28, episode of the “Beverly Hills, 90210 Show” podcast.

Who thinks Jessica Alba is nuts and she is making this whole thing up? Having specific rules for characters pointing guns makes sense. But not being allowed to make eye contact when you have been hired for a guest starring role? Yeah right.
