Since I have been a fan of Disney's Onward I always been curious about the name Ian? I noticed that Ian used to be a popular name for boys and now that Disney released Onward I have a great feeling that Ian will be a popular boy's name. Another thing I noticed is that I have seen Ian pronounced in different ways and I have always pronounced the name Ian like inn but I have seen it pronounced EE-yan or een. Is the name Ian British or short for another boy's name?

So Ian is a Scottish name? I'm surprised to know because I have seen Irish men called Ian and it is a hugely popular name in Ireland. I wonder how popular the name Ian has become for baby boys due to the release of Disney's Onward like when Disney released Aladdin the name Jasmine became popular for baby girls. I love looking up meanings of names and read name books a lot

Ian is a Scottish version of the name John, as far as I can recall.

I like the name Ian !
I think Sean is the Irish version of John right ? Even though Ian a Scottish name, I think English men are named this a lot too. I worked with a guy named Ian who was from England , and Ian Anderson ( Jethro Tull )! And I know some American guys named Ian too !

I used to have a cat that I named Champ and I gave him the middle name of Ian.
