Default What kind of name is Ian?

Since I have been a fan of Disney's Onward I always been curious about the name Ian? I noticed that Ian used to be a popular name for boys and now that Disney released Onward I have a great feeling that Ian will be a popular boy's name. Another thing I noticed is that I have seen Ian pronounced in different ways and I have always pronounced the name Ian like inn but I have seen it pronounced EE-yan or een. Is the name Ian British or short for another boy's name?

So Ian is a Scottish name? I'm surprised to know because I have seen Irish men called Ian and it is a hugely popular name in Ireland. I wonder how popular the name Ian has become for baby boys due to the release of Disney's Onward like when Disney released Aladdin the name Jasmine became popular for baby girls. I love looking up meanings of names and read name books a lot

Ian is a Scottish version of the name John, as far as I can recall.

I like the name Ian ! I think Sean is the Irish version of John right ?

Even though Ian a Scottish name, I think English men are named this a lot too. I worked with a guy named Ian who was from England , and Ian Anderson ( Jethro Tull )! And I know some American guys named Ian too !

It's been a rough few months for me. First, I broke my foot last March then I have developed arthritis in my knee and is very painful I am getting a series of gel shots. I got the first one yesterday and it's feeling a little better today. Then my shoulder started bothering me and I got a cortizone shot for that. Hopefully no surgery is in my future. Because of this Covid thing I haven't seen my husband (who is in assisted living because of Dementia) since March 12. But I get regular updates and he's doing fine and really unaware of the time that has gone by. Because of all of this I haven't been online much because I just didn't feel good. But I'm better today

Oh no Marlene! I'm sorry ! Wow, you sure have been going through a lot ! Hope your foot, knee and shoulder feel better soon ! And I was wondering if you were able to see your Husband with the pandemic going on ? So sorry you haven't been able to see him , that is really a shame ! But glad he is doing well there !

Prayers to you to get over this rough patch !

I used to have a cat that I named Champ and I gave him the middle name of Ian.

Get it?

Sorry to hear that Marlene. I haven’t been on much myself lately either because of what happened to my mom back in May and had to take care of her, but she’s doing much better now though.
