Question Did anybody get annoyed at how Kimmy was often depicted

What I mean is that Kimmy was often painted as the unsophisticated, obnoxiously quirky girl that the adults like Danny and Jesse didn't like having to interact with. But they tolerate her since she's D.J.'s best friend. They had to take it a step further by joking about Kimmy having smelly feet.

Maybe it's annoying since Kimmy dared to actually have a personality unlike D.J. (she wasn't even aggressively "weird" or intruding like say Steve Urkel on Family Maters). Plus, Andrea Barber (especially by the time Fuller House rolled around) is really pretty in real life. So I don't entirely understand why the writers seemed to go to great lengths to paint her character as undesirable, at least when compared to D.J.

^^^ She was pretty on the show too. To me, the only thing about her appearance during the days of the original show was how slim she was. Not to put her down of course, but she looked like she never ate enough.

God bless you and Andrea always!!!

I read a comment elsewhere online that stated that Kimmy was a character TV who did not deserve her status as hated by the other characters? She is street smart, witty, honest, sarcastic without being mean, a great and loyal friend to DJ, and keeps coming back despite how she is abused verbally she was by the men in the Tanner household. Basically, she's meant to be obnoxious in so far as she's totally oblivious to how rude she's being. But outside of comments that aren't too serious, they tolerate her for DJ's sake.

I thought D.J. was pretty damn boring compared to Kimmy.

Also, for such a decidedly saccharine show like Full House, the jokes directed and about Kimmy were pretty mean-spirited. And when compared to say Steve Urkel on its sister show, Family Matters, was Kimmy even that obnoxious? Sure, she was a bit on the goofy and quirky side, but she wasn't a borderline stalker who doesn't understand boundaries like Urkel.

Plus, even though Michelle got most of the focus as the show went on, Kimmy and to a lesser extent, Stephanie were arguably the true MVPs of the show. They were virtually the only ones who provided Full House with any sort of edge (which was especially ironic given the true nature of Bob Saget's style of comedy). Stephanie did it with her sarcasm while Kimmy did it by being a self-deprecating girl with an offbeat sense of humor.

^^^ To me, what got things started where Kimmy is concerned was her never hesitating to say what was on her mind no matter how many feathers would then be ruffled. If anything, what was said to her in return were only words of self-defense.

God bless you always!!!

Holly

P.S. Do keep in mind though, that at the end of the day, her friendship with D.J. was respected. When Danny found out about D.J. and Kimmy's fight after Kimmy's night of drinking in the final season, Danny only encouraged D.J. to be the kind of friend that Kimmy was in need of. In other words, he was telling her to not walk away from Kimmy too fast. Another example was two years earlier when D.J. forgot Kimmy's birthday. The whole family helped D.J. put together a last-minute gathering for Kimmy.

I always thought Kimmy was pretty; and these days, she's definitely the prettiest one. Stephanie looks like a porn star with that huge chest of hers.

^^^ I thought that Kimmy looked pretty at the end of the final episode when she walks in wearing her prom dress. Her hair being up completed her beautiful picture.

God bless you and Andrea always!!!

I gave up expecting reality from this show when Kimmy was at a party, sitting on the couch in a formfitting dress and jacket, totally ignored by the teen boys present, who proceeded to line up in front of DJ upon being told she was single.

Teen boys are disgusting creatures, I know, I used to be one.

^^^ I've always thought that she is pretty. Her theme song acknowledgement clips during the last two seasons of the show were great. My only question is when did she finally get more weight onto herself? When she was on the show, she looked like gaining weight no matter what was eaten just wasn't in the cards. When D.J. took care of her in the final season after their night at the fraternity party, Andrea couldn't have looked any more like a stick figure.

God bless you and her always!!!
