What exists from Johnny Carson's New York era of "The Tonight Show"
Johnny Carson's official YouTube channel recently released this Tonight Show interview of Marlon Brando from 1968. Of course it's commonly stated almost all of Carson's New York based Tonight Show was tossed by NBC execs. So some questions:
Johnny himself talked about this in several interviews. Carson Productions went to great lengths to seek out copies of the New York shows. They apparently managed to find copies of the shows from other people. If you go to his website, the DVD collections contain bits from some of those shows, and that may be where the Brando interview came from. The Paley Center (formerly the Museum of TV & Radio) has an extensive collection of Carson, including some from New York. You might go to PaleyCenter.org and "search the collection." |
