Question Mary Jenkins (227) vs. Florida Evans (Good Times)

When you get right down to it, was Mary Jenkins was just as much of a prude, strict, holier than thou, and just as annoying as Florida Evans?

On one hand though, Mary never thwarted her family's multiple attempts to upgrade their living situation (then again, the Jenkins' family had a better living situation than the Evans'). Every opportunity the Evans had to get out the projects, she had a problem. Florida could never come down off of her moralistic high horse and just let a family member do what they had to do to keep a roof over the family’s head and food in the fridge.

However on the other hand, Florida never went out of her way to hate on Willona for what you can call "being naturally fabulous" the way that Mary did with Sandra.

To be fair, Florida and Willona were best friends. Mary and Sandra were not best friends. A better comparison to Florida and Willona would be Mary and Rose. Rose and Mary were best friends.

Default Mary vs Florida

I like the character of Mary Jenkins moreso than Florida Evans.

Like someone mentioned Florida was seemingly bent on keeping her family in the projects as every time they had a chance to get out (like when James found the money) she came out against the situation.
