This podcast will follow "The Sopranos" series episode by episode providing inside info, behind the scenes stories and little-known facts that could only come from those on the inside. The close friends will also share candid conversations about working in the entertainment industry.

Emmy winner Imperioli said, “This will be the definitive Sopranos podcast.

Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa look at The Sopranos differently after rewatching it for their new Talking Sopranos podcast

"Well, now that I'm older, I understand the Melfi stuff much more, the psychiatrist's office," says Schirripa. "I understand and like it more. Not that I didn't like it, but I very much understand it better and look forward to that." Imperioli adds: "You know, particularly what’s standing out is Tony through the therapy sessions and the things he's trying to work out. I was 31, 32 in the pilot episode. I'm 54 now. And looking back, just trying to see what he’s going through and why. Midlife crisis, maybe. And why he's doing what he's doing and relating to it, not relating to it, all those things. The show holds up. One reason that we also felt the podcast might work is podcasts are new and they've been embraced by young people. What happened in the last year and a half, two years, is a whole new generation has discovered The Sopranos. I'm talking kids in their late teens, 20s, early 30s, who were too young to watch when the show was on, who are obsessed with the show. I think it's a testament to how well the show is made that a whole new generation can find it relevant."

Michael Imperioli feared he'd be fired from The Sopranos on the first day of shooting since he didn't know how to drive

“I didn’t tell them that because I wanted the job and in one of the takes I actually back up into a tree and smashed up the back of the Lexus,” Imperioli, who recently launched the Talking Sopranos podcast, tells Page Six. “We all jumped forward, the air bags came out, smoke, it was a big disaster and I was thinking (James Gandolfini) must be thinking I’m an idiot, this is going to be a disaster, they’re going to fire me. And he just looks at me and starts cracking up laughing and we both just broke down hysterically and I thought, ‘Ok this is going to be a good ride. That was a bonding moment.”

James Gandolfini once threatened to "beat the f***" out of Harvey Weinstein over a David Letterman appearance

Gandolfini's Sopranos co-stars Steve Schirripa and Michael Imperioli, co-hosts of the Talking Sopranos podcast, discussed Gandolfini on The Joe Rogan Experience. Gandolfini avoided appearing as a guest on late-night shows. So when Weinstein pressed him to appear on The Late Show with David Letterman to promote the 2012 film Killing Them Softly, Gandolfini turned him down. But Weinstein kept pressing him, Schirripa recalled. "He said, 'Harvey Weinstein keeps calling, he wants me to do Letterman and I said no,'" Schirripa said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "And he got f***ing nasty with Jim. And Jim said, 'I will beat the f*** out of Harvey Weinstein! He f***ing calls me again, I will beat the **** out of him! For the money he paid me, I'm not ****ing doing it!' Swear to God. And this is before all the Harvey Weinstein s*** when he was still king s***."

I like listening to these guys because it's like listening to my relatives or guys from the neighborhood, not "Hollywood-type" people.

I met Steve Schirripa at a Brooklyn book signing 6 or 7 years ago, nice guy.

"Talking Sopranos" Duo Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa Score Book Deal with William Morrow
by Mike Fleming Jr
September 17, 2020

Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa, who signed on to do the popular "Talking Sopranos" podcast, have just signed a big deal with the HarperCollins book imprint William Morrow to write an oral history of the iconic HBO show.

They’ll provide insights, behind-the-scenes stories, and little-known facts from cast and crew that could only come from those on the inside.

Mauro DiPreta, SVP and Executive Editor at William Morrow, who negotiated the deal with Michael Harriot at Folio Literary Management, said:

Michael and Steve are a dream combination for providing an inside look at The Sopranos, which critics have hailed as one of the greatest TV shows in history. You couldn’t ask for better guides with better access to all of the key players and unknown stories. The book will stand as the definitive companion to the iconic series.
