TMC Member Forum Idol Join Date: Jan 09, 2001 Posts: 126,068	How could 90210 have played out had Shannen Doherty not left 90210 arguably became a full blown prime-time soap opera after she left like it's sister show Melrose Place. In a sense, it was like a younger version of Knots Landing, if you will. On the same token however, Shannen's departure after Season 4 allowed for more screen time for Jennie Garth (Kelly essentially took Brenda's spot as the female lead going forward) and Tori Spelling.
