Was "Webster" a major comedown for Susan Clark

I mean many people today think of her as Webster's adoptive mom and Alex Karras' wife (both on the series and in real life). Maybe it's my imagination, but did she never get the level of career she probably deserved? I mean, she was a classically trained actress doing a fluffy family sitcom.

And before Webster, she won an Emmy for her turn as Babe Didrikson Zaharias in the made for TV movie Babe, she played Clint Eastwood's love interest in Coogan's Bluff, Gene Hackman's wife in Night Moves, and she was the prostitute Cherry Forever in Porky's.

Granted, from what I heard, Susan and Alex Karras actually made a lot of money from Webster and invested well. And she was by the time she started doing Webster, in her early 40s and parts for women her age were few and far between. And I know that apparently she and Alex fought hard to keep their own vision of the show but it was a constant battle.
