Deborah Dugan, who was CEO of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences from last August until she was put on leave last week, filed a discrimination complaint with the EEOC on Tuesday that contained her Dec. 22, 2019 memo outlining all the problems she says she encountered in her new job. Dugan alleges that predecessor, Neil Portnow, was accused of raping a recording artist, that the Grammy nomination review process was tainted, that the academy's lawyer sexually harassed her and that board members were paying themselves for jobs they weren't doing. Before her complaint was released, the Recording Academy had accused Dugan of harassing a female employee, creating a "toxic and intolerable" work environment and demanding $22 million to step down. |
