...: Will it debut after the Summer Olympics?
https://deadline.com/2019/11/blindsp...bc-1202781444/ The Kenan Show was absent from NBC's midseason schedule that was revealed today. The delay is expected, according to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "The family comedy, written by Jackie Clarke, was expected to undergo some redevelopment following its series pickup last May," says Andreeva. "And the series will have to be shot around Thompson’s SNL schedule. Already the longest-serving SNL cast member, Thomson remains a linchpin on the show with major presence in every episode. It has not been determined yet when The Kenan Show will premiere, with a post-Summer Olympics launch among the scenarios that we reportedly being discussed." Kenan Thompson's The Kenan Show won't premiere until next season Thompson's NBC sitcom didn't make the cut for the 2019-2020 season, but there was talk of premiering it after the Tokyo Olympics. NBC Entertainment chair Paul Telegdy said at today's TV press tour, however, that The Kenan Show won't premiere until the 2020-21 season to allow Thompson to craft the show while working on other projects, including his NBC reality show Bring the Funny. “When a star is given to this network time and time again, we reciprocate," said Telegdy. "What we gave Kenan back was time, time to create a show he wants, time to do the projects he’s doing and that he loves, and a little time for his family. SoThe Kenan Show will come next season, and I think it’s stronger, smarter and funnier than it would be if we forced it through the traditional cycle." |
