I'll give you an example, Bob Hope. He was hugely popular across several decades and multiple forms of media. He hosted the Oscars a record nineteen times. But today, you’d be hard pressed to find anyone younger than 40 that’s heard of him.

I like his posts. I'm not sure the assertion is true however. Look at Joan Crawford's padded shoulders, which came back into fashion in the 1980s. Princess Diana's humanitarian work was copied by Madonna and Meghan Markle, and her fashion style by Kate Middleton. Eva Perón's legacy is still revered in Argentina.
I'm sure I could think of more examples if I ruminated further. |

I really hate to say this, but.... Michael Jackson.... He was hugely popular during his lifetime, and a little after his Feath, but today he seems to have been largely forgotten about. I haven't seen a Michael Jackson shirt in YEARS.... And I remember a highly popular Michael Jackson website Admin announcing the site would be closing shortly after his death since he was dead and that meant thst fans could only basically say the same things about him over and over and there wouldn't really be any new news on him. The Posters agreed that shutting down the website was ideal and agreed with the Admin...

I'm gonna say one celebrity that's now faded...Al Jolson.
Despite performing in the now controversial blackface...he made many friends in the African-American community and he supported Civil Rights before it was coined. If he lived throughout the 1950's...Al Jolson would refuse to be in blackface because of how the African-Americans were treated in the South! But since many see Jolson as a blackface performer...his films and performances are taboo! |

Michael J. Fox applies.
He was HUGELY popular from the mid 80s to mid 90s but today I bet much of the country doesn't know who he is. |
