The Ruby Rose-led superhero series was The CW's most-watched series premiere in nearly two years, attracting 1.8 million viewers. It was the most for a new CW series since Black Lightning's 2.3 million in January 2018. On ABC, Tiffany Haddish's Kids Say the Darndest Things reboot was a hit with 5.4 million viewers.

Ruby Rose hopes Batwoman moves beyond being known as a show about a gay superhero

Batwoman’s sexuality is always one of the first things mentioned in news articles. Rose understands that it's a big deal she's playing the first gay superhero in a lead TV role. But says says she hopes that perception changes over time. "(That’s) why this show is so important,” Rose said — she’s a gay superhero whose sexuality is intended to be no big deal. “People being straight doesn’t get that kind of attention," added Rose, who identifies as gay. "It’s the least interesting thing about (Batwoman). I mean, I even look at her as I look at my own sexuality. I would think my sexuality is the least interesting thing about me. We all identify as something. We wake up in the morning and we don’t think about it, it just is. Being straight and being gay, it’s the same thing. It’s just love. It’s who you love." ALSO: It’s worth noting that the Batwoman pilot is very, very gay and the fact that Kate is a lesbian is both key to the plot and who she is.

In my opinion, Viewers proved that Batwoman is not a flop.

Batwoman slips in Week 2

The CW superhero series attracted 1.46 million total viewers, down 21% from its series premiere. It also fell 40% in the demo, matching Supergirl's lowest demo numbers in the same timeslot last season.
