Default Priscilla Barnes - The American Girls - Pre-Three's Company

Priscilla Barnes starred in a show with cutie Debra Clinger called "The American Girls" that was on in 1978. It was sort of a "Charlie's Angels" knockoff that lasted about 6 or 8 episodes. It was considered part of the "jiggle tv" era. Priscilla of course would later go to Three's Company as Terri Alden. You might remember Debra as Superchick from Kaptain Kool and the Kongs. Anyways, here's a rare episode :

I never heard of this show. You have a better chance of seeing the Dolphins win a game this year than remembering this show or someone bringing it up in a conversation the rest of our lives.

They must have thought the show was going to be a hit because Pro-Arts actually put out a official poster. Here it is :

Suzanne Somers was great as Chrissy Snow, but what a foolish thing she did.
They made a great choice of Prissy as a replacement. It was the age of Farrah, everyone had a Farrah poster, Suzanne had a poster as well, I believe she was on a crusade to be Farrah. I don’t remember that poster. She was very sexy. Who is the other girl?

I always thought Priscilla Barnes had the hottest face of ALL the women on TC who were regulars.

But the hottest woman EVER on TC has to be Tori Lysdahl. I think you all know who I'm talking about!

But this show was about 2 gorgeous TV journalists according to IMDB while Charlie's Angels was about female private detectives.

The American Girls premiered 45 years ago on September 23, 1978. It aired on CBS before Dallas on Saturday nights. They made 11 episodes, but only 6 of them aired.

The Prime Time of Life: Saturday, Sept. 23, 1978 (the U.S. network TV lineup 45 years ago tonight)

Somebody on the Three's Company subreddit said that Priscilla Barnes had a nose job before she started working on Three's Company in 1981.

Here is Priscilla guest starring on Columbo in 1975, which was her very first TV role:

Interestingly, just like on Three's Company later on, Prisicilla played a nurse on Columbo.

Join me as we dive into the world of 1970s television and examine the short-lived series "The American Girls". Often criticized for bearing a striking resemblance to the popular show "Charlie's Angels", we'll be discussing whether "The American Girls" deserves its reputation as one of the worst TV shows of 1978. From its similar concept to its lackluster reception, we'll be exploring what made this series fail to capture the hearts of audiences and whether it's more than just a "Charlie's Angels" rip-off. Tune in to find out if "The American Girls" is truly the worst TV show of 1978 or if it has been unfairly maligned.
