The new reality show has received intense backlash since it was announced on Wednesday. Co-hosted by former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay and recording artist Travis Mills, Ghosted tries to get to the bottom of relationships that ended with one partner ghosting the other. As one Twitter user noted, "So, this will basically be about stalking people who don't want anything to do with you anymore?" Another pointed out, "'Publicly tracking down the person who ghosted you' is a weird way to say stalking. It's stalking." The Huffington Post adds that the problem with Ghosted "is that people who ghost often have legitimate reasons for doing so ― such as ending a toxic or abusive relationship. Sometimes, if you’re afraid the other person will respond to rejection with violence, ghosting can seem like the safest option." MTV has yet to comment on the backlash and whether it is taking any precautions to avoid problematic behavior. |
