https://pagesix.com/2019/07/27/mtv-m...award-at-vmas/
Jennifer Lopez may be the final recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award after being honored last year. The first Vanguard Award was presented to David Bowie at the inaugural VMAs in 1984. In 1991, the award was renamed in honor of Jackson, who was presented with the award in 1988. “There’s a lot of heated discussion at the network about how to handle the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award this year, and it’s getting ugly,” a source tells Page Six. “There’s talk about if they should change the name, or get rid of it altogether. (There’s also talk) about who would present it and who would accept it. It’s a mess.” HBO's Leaving Neverland documentary has made Jackson's name toxic since airing earlier this year. Page Six points out that the Vanguard Award isn't handed out annually, which may give MTV a chance to buy some time. But the award has been handed out every year of this decade, except 2010 and 2012. |

Hollywood is a bunch of hypocrites. All this about MJ was known years ago and they didn't care then. Same with Roman Polanski.

The Finding Neverland Documentary has been ruining & dampen Michael Jackson’s Legacy since this past March. maybe The world of Music & Entertainment should save the career of MJ(with a change of heart) in which Finding Neverland should never been aired to the public.

MTV VMAs to keep the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award name this year to honor Missy Elliott
Last month, Page Six reported that MTV was considering axing Jackson's name following the controversy over HBO's Leaving Neverland documentary. Instead, MTV announced this morning that rapper Missy Elliott will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Leaving Neverland accuser calls MTV's decision to keep Michael Jackson's name on Video Vanguard Award "an unfortunate choice" MTV announced Monday that Missy Elliott will be the latest recipient of the MTV VMAs' Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. The announcement comes weeks after Page Six reported that the cable network was debating whether to strip Jackson's name in response to HBO's Leaving Neverland documentary. Asked to comment on MTV's decision, Jackson accuser Wade Robson told The Wrap: “I don’t personally need MTV to do one thing or the other, but as child abuse survivors all over the world watch to see whether society will support them or not if they have the courage to come forward, in that regard, it’s an unfortunate choice." MTV has yet to comment on the controversy. |

Did MTV secretly drop Michael Jackson's name from the Video Vanguard Award?
Page Six first reported last month that MTV was considering dropping Jackson's name from the VMAs' Video Vanguard Award in wake of the Leaving Neverland sexual molestation controversy. But MTV, which renamed the award in his honor in 1991, called it the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" on Aug. 12 in announcing that Missy Elliott would be this year's recipient. Yet Monday's VMAs ceremony omitted Michael Jackson's name in presenting the award, even though Elliott said in her acceptance speech: "The Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award means so much to me." MTV's YouTube video of Elliott's speech also omits Jackson's name. Yet MTV's website on Monday described Elliott as "the newest recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award." MTV has yet to comment on the VMAs omission. |
