They were always very subtle with their guest stars. It wasn’t really in your face with most of the cameos (ZZ Top and Gwen Stefani aside). Most of the time it seemed like the writers wrote a one-off/occasional character because they thought it would be good for the show. Then if a guest star was available they would be cast. This as opposed to throwing in random crap just so they can squeeze in some big name cameos.

Yeah there were a lot of them though. One that was more obvious was they had Drew Carey guest voice in one episode, I think his character was named Hal if I remember. He and Hank met somewhere and found out they had lots in common and started spending lots of time together to the point that Dale, Bill, and Boomhauer got very jealous. I say it was a more "obvious" guest voice because Drew Carey really didn't change his voice and the character of Hal looks just like him too.

Then there was the one episode where they had that Texas politician, Ann...something, I can't remember her last name LOL. She played herself in the episode and she fell in love with Bill. Since she was playing herself of course the animated version of her looked just like her. There was an episode where they had the members of a well known punk rock band. I want to say it was either Sum 41 or Green Day but I've forgotten which now.
