Page Six reports Lindsay Lohan's MTV reality show will not be back for a second season while her Mykonos nightclub where the show was set has been shuttered. MTV has yet to confirm the cancelation, but Lohan's rep says "she is not doing another season." Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club premiered in January to decent ratings, but viewership quickly plummeted. A source tells Page Six that the show didn't have "enough drama." A Season 2 idea revolving around Lohan's mother Dina and sister Ali was kicked around, the source ways, but "that wasn’t going to happen.” Another source tells Page Six that MTV is still trying to salvage the show. Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club debuted to disappointing reviews, with The Hollywood Reporter calling it "vapid and tedious." Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club: An appreciation MTV has yet to confirm Page Six's report that Lohan's Mykonos nightclub reality show is over, but TMZ today posted a photo of the abandoned beach club. While Lindsay Lohan's Beach Club was critically derided and failed to find an audience, Heather Schwedel found it to be a very compelling reality show. "For a millennial audience that grew up with Lohan and then spent much of adulthood following her demise, gawking at Lohan up close proved irresistible," she says. "Or so I thought, anyway—I guess everyone else has moved on. But all these years into her downward spiral, I have never quite stopped rooting for Lohan to get it together and stage her comeback for real this time. Up till now, I thought of her like (and I understand this is a bad sign) Lord Voldemort in the first Harry Potter book, when he’s hiding inside Professor Quirrell’s turban—a shell of her former self, sure, but bound to rise again. With this show’s cancellation, maybe I have to admit that I’ve been deluded, too—about Lohan’s relative importance in the world order. The sands of time may not remember Beach Club, but I will. " |
