Default Big-name movie stars are making big bucks hosting primetime game shows

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/li...-hosts-1212683

Jamie Foxx, Dwayne Johnson, Elizabeth Banks, Alec Baldwin, Melissa McCarthy and Tiffany Haddish are among the big names signed on to to do primetime network game shows. The Hollywood Reporter points out that A-list talent can make as much as $450,000 an episode, while also noting that game shows used to be hosted by "up-and-coming DJs and daytime talking heads."

It may seem that in Hollywood today that if you want to become really famous and become a superstar it seems that the first step to become a movie star is not starring in a sitcom but by becoming a game show host and by given the right type of game show that's tailor-made just for you it is very simple and easy to become a household name that will make you a top Hollywood actor/actress for years to come. Take for example way before becoming a top actor in Hollywood Greg Kinnear was a game show host hosting College Mad House and now has had a successful career in romantic comedies such as Stuck On You. A second actor to do this was actor Kevin Pollak who is very successful in movies and hosted FOX's Million Dollar Money Drop. But if you look at GSN you'll notice that every single new game show that they announce a release date and promote is hosted by a Hollywood star. Take for example GSN had actor David Allen Grier host Snap Judgement and actor Hunter March from The Emoji Movie hosted EmoGenius and it seems that GSN is a huge starting point for Hollywood actors. But one of my dreams is to see Samuel L. Jackson be a game show host. That would be so amazing to see

Alec Baldwin weighs in on big-name stars hosting primetime game shows

Baldwin made it clear that his hosting Match Game is an easy way to make a lot of money with work that isn't time-consuming. "This game-show thing, it’s a quick trip," he tells Vulture. "We’re here for a couple of weeks, we bang out a season. Elizabeth Banks, maybe she’d like to stay home with her kids like me. Joel McHale would like to stay home with his kids, like me. I’ve got four kids. I’m 61 years old and I got four kids, 5 and under." Baldwin adds: For me, the compression of the schedule that we shot in New York, it was very, very, very convenient for me. And I gotta tell ya, I always look forward to this. I mean, do I care what people think about (how) I used to make big studio films and I got nominated for this and for that in the theater, and I’ve done things that are certainly more traditional? I really couldn’t care less what people think in terms of this kind of thing. I’ve had more fun with these people. 30 Rock was great, SNL is great, and Match Game is right up there in terms of the people that we work with." Baldwin was also asked about the potential of a 30 Rock reboot. "No reboot of 30 Rock could ever live without (Tina Fey's) not just blessing, but involvement," he says. "I’ve never heard a peep out of her that she’s really interested in that at all." ALSO: Baldwin discusses the "little nuances" he learned in becoming a game show host.
