..., but says he's "thrilled" with Fresh Off the Boat's renewal
https://www.etonline.com/randall-par...clusive-125769 "C'mon man, this is my night. You're really going to bring that up on my night," Park said when an Entertainment Tonight reporter brought up Wu's initial tweets expressing disappointment in the Season 6 renewal. Park was on the red carpet with former Fresh Off the Boat writer and guest-star Ali Wong promoting their new Netflix romcom Always Be My Maybe, which is directed by Fresh Off the Boat creator Nahnatchka Khan. Before Fresh Off the Boat's Season 6 renewal, Randall Park said he would've been "thrilled" with it ending But Park said he would've been thrilled, too, if ABC renewed the groundbreaking Asian-American comedy since it has helped him pay off student loan and credit card debt, as well as allowed him to buy a house. Park made his comments before the Season 6 renewal news and Constance Wu Twitter drama in a lengthy Vulture profile promoting his new Netflix movie Always Be My Maybe. "(Wu) is, I think, ready to explore other things,” Park said in the interview. “As am I. I’m at a place now where if the show ends, I’ll be thrilled because then I’ll get to try to do other things.” Park also spoke to Vulture about his long association with co-star and former Fresh Off the Boat writer Ali Wong, who was a member of a UCLA Asian-American theater group Park co-founded. (They met at the theater group's annual “innovative fried rice” competition.) Randall Park has no hard feelings about Constance Wu's frustration over Fresh Off the Boat's renewal since the cast was expecting cancelation “I was prepared for it to not get picked up, and I was excited by these others things I could do, but if it did get picked up it’s like, that’s all I ever wanted,” he said on Variety's The Big Ticket podcast. “All I ever wanted was a job and a regular job to work with great people.” |
