Default ABC has not considered recasting Constance Wu on Fresh Off the Boat

https://tvline.com/2019/05/14/consta...-abc-response/

“There have been no thoughts of recasting Constance," ABC Entertainment president Karey Burke said when asked about Wu's tweets expressing dissatisfaction with the Season 6 renewal. "We love what she does on the show, and we love the show,” she told TVLine. “I did know that she had another opportunity that, had Fresh Off the Boat not gone forward, she would have pursued. But we never really considered not bringing the show back. It’s just too strong for us.”

Constance Wu definitely screwed up, but at least Asian-Americans have representation when it comes to "divas"

The Fresh Off the Boat star was wrong with her "F*cking hell" Twitter reaction to ABC's Season 6 renewal and her follow-up statement that was pitch-perfect until the last sentence when she co-opted the #MeToo rallying cry of "believe women," says Inkoo Kang. "From a PR standpoint, Wu definitely screwed up," says Kang. "But as someone who doesn’t just want to see laudable or relatable representations of Asian America, but the full, messy diversity of humanity within it, I can’t help appreciating Wu’s accidental self-exposure, as well as her subsequent reframing, as part of that larger goal. With her tweets, Wu reminded us that an Asian-American actress has actually gathered enough clout for people to pay attention when she conveys discontent about the show she’s helped make a hit. But most notably, Wu was able to cast herself as a kind of figure Hollywood still has trouble seeing Asian-Americans as: an artist whose desire for creative expression and relentless innovation can lead them to great heights … and sometimes self-sabotage."

It's good to read that they never considered not bringing the show back.

Constance made herself look foolish and silly. I really can't imagine what she could be thinking by tweeting what she did, when she did. I can understand her feeling upset, but why tweet it at a time when people were so happy to hear that the show was coming back? Why tweet that, ever? Did she think nobody would be reading her tweets, or that we wouldn't be able to figure out why she was upset? It's baffling to me, I still can't figure it out.

What an idiot. It's so nice she was hoping the show would be canned and that MANY people would lose their jobs so she could personally pursue another opportunity.
