That led to Abdul-Jabbar writing the forward to the 20th-anniversary re-release of Thomas' book, which led to him asking for an iZombie cameo, which led to him requesting for them to potentially create a show together. Thomas responded by offering Abdul-Jabbar and his writing partner spots on his Veronica writing staff.
