Buzzfeed has an excerpt of Ramin Setoodeh's upcoming book, Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View, which also focuses on Rosie O'Donnell's hit daytime talk show. "Before Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres, James Corden, or Andy Cohen adopted the persona of the talk show host as the superfan, there was Rosie, whose daytime show aired from 1996 to 2002," writes Setoodeh. "For six seasons, Rosie took on the title of the world’s utmost expert on movies, TV shows, musicals, and crafts, without uttering a cross word. She averaged 5 million viewers on her best days, nipping at Oprah’s heels and clobbering her at the Daytime Emmys. On TV, Rosie offered a ray of sunshine; it was not for nothing that Newsweek dubbed her the Queen of Nice. Rosie was so popular, she stepped in as host of the Grammys and the Tonys, making her Hollywood’s emcee of choice after Billy Crystal."

Rosie O'Donnell is one of my favorite comediennes and so when The Rosie O'Donnell Show debuted Mom and I were hooked on it and I thought it was a cute talk show and was filled with fun games contests celebrities and of course Rosie herself was so cool to watch and I feel that this was the show that was tailor-made for Rosie O'Donnell because it gave her the chance to show her talents a lot more beyond movies. And with celebrity guests such as Mariah Carey Tate Donovan Regis Philbin Gloria Estefan and Tom Cruise Rosie knew what worked for her in this type of show. And with The Rosie O'Donnell Show a monster hit Rosie became a huge superstar by launching dolls and writing two bestselling kids joke books and also founding Rosie Magazine and it proved that Rosie O'Donnell could not stop doing what she loved. But when The Rosie O'Donnell Show got cancelled and comedienne Caroline Rhea replaced Rosie and the show was retitled The Caroline Rhea Show I think it was a wrong thing to do and I think Rosie O'Donnell should get another chance at a talk show to make her mark in TV again. With all the celebrities such as Steve Harvey and Ellen DeGeneres being successful talk show hosts in TV Rosie O'Donnell could easily make it in the big leagues of TV
