Eek Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman indicted in college admissions bribery scheme

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...candal-1194023

Fuller House star Loughlin and and Desperate Housewives alum Huffman are the biggest names among dozens charged in a nationwide college entrance exam scandal. Huffman and her husband, Shameless star William H. Macy, are accused of disguising a $15,000 charitable payment to facilitate their daughter cheating on an SAT exam. The charging papers refer to Macy only as "spouse," but he has not been indicted. Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannulli, who was named, are accused of paying $500,000 to have their two daughters designated as recruits for USC's crew team -- even though they don't actually participate in crew. The scheme would guarantee their admission to USC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Huffman's daughter is said to have taken the (SAT) test in Dec. 2017 and received a 1420 on the test, a 400 point improvement from a previous test. Last October, Huffman discussed repeating this for her youngest daughter in a taped conversation that evidently the FBI has obtained. However, Huffman did not go through with the cheating for her youngest daughter, according to court papers. The confidential witness in this scheme has agreed to plead guilty to racketeering, money laundering and obstruction of justice (after alerting several subjects of the investigation of the government probe), according to court papers and has been cooperating since Sept. 2018 in a bid for leniency."

ALSO:

Why is the Lori Loughlin-Felicity Huffman college admissions scandal so fun?

"I know that the people involved in this debacle are real people, with real emotions, caught up in a mortifying scandal that has also humiliated their children," says Willa Paskin of the Fuller House star and the Desperate Housewives alum indictment for college admissions fraud. "But have you scoped the details on this thing??? The FBI called this Operation Varsity Blues because they, too, are apparently ’90s nostalgists. The scheme involved, at some point, photoshopping the prospective students’ heads onto the bodies of other student athletes. Huffman used the phrase 'ruh roh' in this context: 'Ruh Ro! Looks like (my daughter’s high school) wants to provide own proctor.' At least one of the admitted students is already a paid Instagram influencer. This is a genuine scandal—a big, messy to-do and a disgrace—but it also, thankfully, euphorically, does not involve the grifts of our commander in chief, nuclear realpolitik, or our dying planet. It is powerfully representative of so much of our national dysfunction, but will not immediately result in the death of democracy or any other human beings. In contemporary America, I believe this is what passes for a lark."

Bob Saget was on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight. I was really hoping he’d “go there”, even though I knew he wouldn’t.

Has anybody else noticed that the episode "Be True to Your Pre-School", where Jesse and Becky lie about their sons' academic skills to get them into a prestigious pre-school, is now an awful case of life imitating art!?

It sounds like something characters would do in a TV show anyway. Have you noticed how parents in TV shows never send their kids to public schools? Seems like it would be a good way to avoid stress and spending thousands of dollars, but then characters in modern TV shows always seem to be upper-middle class too. Heaven forbid kids go to *gasp* public school.....

Have Mercy

Ya know, not tryin' to be funny, but I was thinkin' what would Uncle Jesse, Danny, Joey, DJ, Stephanie, Michelle, Gia and Kimmy say about this?

Will the Lori Loughlin opening credit scenes (e.g. her smelling flowers in Season 4) be removed from the reruns?

Jimmy Kimmel doesn't bring up Lori Loughlin's indictment while interviewing her Full House co-star Bob Saget

Kimmel joked in his opening monologue about the "Operation Varsity Blues" college admissions bribery scandal that led to Loughlin and Felicity Huffman's indictment on Tuesday. But the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host chose not to address the scandal when Loughlin's Full House and Fuller House co-star Bob Saget was Kimmel's first guest on Tuesday, as Fox News points out, adding that Saget's visit appears to have been a coincidence. Loughlin has never been a guest on Kimmel's show, while Huffman was a guest twice, in 2006 and 2007, according to IMDb. (Huffman's husband, William H. Macy -- who wasn't indicted -- also has appeared on Kimmel's show twice, in 2003 and 2012.)
