We learned he didn't take care of his health and didn't get regular heart checkups like he should've! If he did that and got the preventive surgery his brother did he would've likely lived!

It could very well be aortic dissection is something that can’t really be anticipated or prevented.
Most people don’t go into open-heart surgery unless it’s a life or death situation. Think about it - who has the money to pay for open heart surgery on a non-urgent basis? I agree we cannot necessarily blame John for what happened to himself. Not sure any of us would have acted differently if we were in his shoes. |

I remember many years ago Amy Yasbeck said several people had gone to get checked after John's death and then had surgery to prevent an aortic dissection! John's Aortic foundation is below: http://johnritterfoundation.org |

Imagine if he had taken better care of himself, his show would have lasted 4 more years.

I don't know what John Ritter's situation was before his death. I would like to believe that if he was aware that had take care of heart, it wasn't going to be an issue until he actually started feeling sick. In that case, maybe he felt that he didn't need to take care of it since in his mind, he was at the time "perfectly OK". Or maybe he didn't want to see a doctor because he was worried about being told something that he didn't want to hear. And in return, it would become too much of a hassle to change his lifestyle (especially at his age). |

But I do agree that most men don't like going to the doctor & John was no different. However John KNEW he had a history of heart disease in his family(his dad died from it) so he should've been more diligent in taking care of his heart health. He wasn't & he paid the ULTIMATE price!! |
