When people do stunts like this to further “their” agenda, it weakens the real issues. I feel no sympathy for him and hope he pays.

As one public relations firm founder put it: "The best thing that Jussie can do is pray and pray a lot. My prediction is that he will not spend one day in jail. He will whine that being black and gay in our horrible country was too much for him to stand, and that's if he ever even admits he made this up at all. But what he has guaranteed himself is a lifetime of sympathy and support - including financial - from the loony left fringe, so he'll come out of this with most of what he wanted.

Fox, Empire producers and 20th Century Fox TV are weighing whether to suspend Smollett following his felony charge for filing a false police. Up until Wednesday, Fox has stood by Smollett in public statements. UPDATE: Jussie Smollett was arrested early Thursday morning after turning himself in to police.

I remember him being in the short-lived ABC sitcom “On Our Own” in the 90s. That was actually a funny sitcom.

Other than that, I couldn’t care less about him. It seriously irks me when people make crap up to make themselves look better or to try to “prove a point”. Real issues have been mocked and that makes me angry. Jussie, Pelosi, and Schumer need to be thrown over the wall when it’s built.

Report: Empire may recast Jussie Smollett's role

Smollett's suspension for the final two episodes of the season after being charged with a felony may not spell the end of Jamal Lyon. According to Michael Ausiello, "among the options producers are considering is bringing in a new actor to take over the role in Season 6. Per an Empire insider, series co-creator Lee Daniels — who loosely based Jamal on himself — is said to be a strong proponent of the recast option." An Empire rep declined to comment on a potential recasting.

What would Empire look like without Jussie Smollett?

Empire producers announced this morning that Smollett will be removed from the final two episodes of the season. What if producers decide to write off Smollett's Jamal Lyon completely from the show? "Empire hasn’t yet been confirmed for a sixth season, but if the show returns and is forced to move forward without Smollett, writing Jamal out won’t be hard, but the character is an important one, and his absence would be felt," says Starrene Rhett Rocque. "He’s an openly gay pop star — groundbreaking for prime-time network TV — who we watched overcome a drug addiction and find what seemed like true love with an HIV-positive man." Rocque adds: "If Jamal must be written off the show, then perhaps he’ll conveniently follow Kai back to London. There was always the threat of Jamal going back there anyway, since it’s where he seemed most happy, so it’s the most obvious route. That way, he can remain overseas in limbo until Smollett’s actual legal woes are resolved, but they probably won’t kill Jamal. Empire without Jamal, or any of the Lyon brothers, would feel meaningless and could potentially tank the show — if Smollett’s alleged hoax doesn’t do that first."

As others have said, the primary reason why he may not be working is because he may be uninsurable.

Movie studios typically insured their actors, sets, directors, etc., because if the lead actor gets injured or they die, or the set is destroyed in a fire, therefore making it impossible for the studio to complete the film. Then the insurance kicks in to cover the studio loses.

Typically, no network television or movie production is going to hire an actor who is uninsurable because the liability is too high.
