Default Don't expect Johnny Galecki to join The Conners cast full-time next season

https://tvline.com/2019/02/12/the-co...turning-david/

“I think I need a little bit of space from being a series regular again,” Galecki says of his post-Big Bang Theory plans. But Galecki says he's willing to reprise his David role as on a recurring basis because The Conners has become "my second home."

He's too big a star for that.

No loss. I never liked him or tbbt. In fact, Roseanne pretty much jumped the shark with his first appearance. I liked him as Rusty #3 in Christmas Vacation though.

It isn't as if he needs the money. He's been a successfully-working actor since he was a little boy and with all the money he has earned from Big Bang Theory, he will never have to worry about finances. I imagine all the BBT stars will continue to earn tens of millions of dollars per year in residuals from the show over the next few decades, much as the stars of Friends earn over $20 million a year each in residuals!

The original episodes of Roseanne had 3 and 1/2 adults and 3 kids, with Crystal being a 1/2. Those were my favorite episodes - about up to Season 4, before the kids grew up, Becky changed and the girls were in and out dating David and Mark.

When Roseanne was rebooted, the 3 kids are adults, and Darlene has her kids, which resulted with too much cast. I'm still not sure if DJ is just an accessory or will be more integrated as an actor on the show. But, in a way, it works out with Roseanne no longer in the new series The Conners.

Darlene can be a struggling single mom, and there is more involvement with Becky. The Becky/Darlene scenes of The Conners last season were pretty good and reminded me of when the girls were young or how Roseanne and Jackie used to spar. Adding David back as a permanent would result in less story for the rest of the cast. However, I'll say that I didn't like the premise that David would abandon Darlene and his two kids to the point that the kids aren't close with their dad, but not sure how else the writers could better explain his absence. Guest starring probably works.

I imagine he will take some time to figure out his next move. I guess a Big Bang reboot in 5 or so years is possible (although I think the series may well be relaunched).

I also think they will reboot Big Bang Theory before the cast members are 60. It just seems like one of those cases where the cast members will get bored over time and want to get back on the show. It's all most of them know!
