Oscars snub Mister Rogers documentary Won't You Be My Neighbor?

On Monday, the tearjerker of a film based on Fred Rogers' life and Mister Rogers' Neighborhood described itself as "the most acclaimed documentary of 2018." On Tuesday, Won't You Be My Neighbor? failed to earn a nomination for best documentary. "Past Oscar winner Morgan Neville’s touching and insightful portrait of Fred Rogers was a true crowd pleaser for our times but clearly the Academy didn’t want to drop by for a visit, which is bizarre," writes Deadline's Dominic Patten. Us Weekly movie critic Mara Reinstein described it as the "biggest shock of the morning," while Rolling Stone's David Fear said everybody thought that an Oscar win was the biggest lock for the documentary since last summer. "No big surprises with the Oscar Nominations," tweeted The Hollywood Reporter executive editor Matthew Belloni. "For me, the biggest disappointment is the Mister Rogers movie didn’t get nominated for documentary feature."

Eek Green Book is The Movie of the Year!

Green Book got the Oscar for Best Picture!

I sooooo wanted Bohemian Rhapsody to get the Oscar for Best Picture...now it looks like another Oscar controversy to be debated!

I'm just gonna say this...The Oscars ARE Fixed!

I didn't watch The Academy Awards this year, but I am glad that Rami Malek won an Oscar for Best Actor for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury (Boehiam Rhapsody)

I completely agree that it was snubbed. Wonderful documentary that deserved to at least be nominated.

You just now figured that out? It's all internal politics, has been for decades. Want a movie to win or an actor? Pay enough money to the right people, done.

If you want your movie to be considered for nomination, be prepared to shell out big bucks just for the Academy to think about it.

Horror fans were excited that James Karen made it on the In Memoriam this year, of course they included him, he was a paid up member of the Academy.

Same with the Golden Globes.

Nonetheless, I am still happy for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse winning Best Animated Feature. It was nice seeing a non-Disney/non-Pixar movie win Best Animated Feature for a change.

I've known it for years...

Crash got the Oscar for Best Pic? Brokeback Mountain is a FAR better film!
Slumdog Millionaire got the Oscar for Best Pic? The Dark Knight should've gotten the Oscar though it wasn't even nominated!

Ever since I knew when Shakespeare in Love got the Oscar, but NOT Saving Private Ryan...the Oscars ARE Fixed!

The Movie of the Year rarely stands the test of time!

I like how this year's Oscars chose a right winner in each category(for most of them to be exact) despite not having its host at the helm.

I was thrilled when I found out Malek won. I was hoping that he would receive the Oscar. I am also glad that Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper won for Best Song.

Yes!! That song was really good, but I'm upset that Lady Gaga didn't win for best female actress! She was fantastic in A star is born!!
