Question Anyone know any interesting TV plotlines that never came to fruition?

Essentially series plans that never came to fruition.

I think I read somewhere once that when "I LOVE LUCY" was cancelled they wanted to make a spin-off about Fred & Ethel.
In 2003, they were going to make a new "QUANTUM LEAP" show about Sams daughter searching for him in time.

Spinoff of The Middle following the life of Sue Heck, which ABC did not pick up.

Fred and Ethel spin-off would have been interesting. But both actors probably said a resounding no, since they hated each other in real life.

I read that Vivian Vance didn't want to and said "NO WAY IN HELL WOULD I EVER WORK WITH MISTER FRAWLY AGAIN!"

However I also heard that the feud between that wasn't nearly as bad as people say. So I guess it's another one of those inside Hollywood stories where we'll never know the truth.

I can totally see them wanting to do a Fred and Ethel spinoff since the characters were very popular. But that wasn't ever going to happen since Vivian Vance and William Frawley hated each others' guts in real life.

I know there was talks of two spin offs for the Showtime show Californication. One was for the character of Faith that never happened. The other proposed spin-off would of been for the duo Charlie and Marcy Runkle. I guess David Duchovny even said he'd do a guest spot on the pilot. Obviously the show never got passed development hell.

But where would the storylines come without Lucy & Ricky?? Plus they had no kids. It may have lasted a season of 2 but that's it. Maybe a little longer because back then there were far fewer entertainment options.

There were going to have John Ritter confront one of his kid's teacher in Season 2 of 8 Simple Rules.

The teacher was going to be played by Any Yasbeck who is John Ritter's wife in real life! They were supposed to confront each other & have an argument over some issue about the kid. It could've been one of the most hilarious moments in modern TV history but unfortunately John died before the episode could ever be made!

There was going to be a Rainn Wilson, Dwight Schrute spinoff called "The Farm", which gained some press and thought it would be a go, but the idea was cancelled. That still annoys me because I think this show could have been another "Fawlty Towers" type show. The other cast members of The Office could visit too. It would have been a good show.

Why is everyone talking about spinoffs? Spinoffs wasn't in the question. The question is about plotlines that didn't occur which doesn't require a spinoff.

I know that Designing Women had started a storyline about Mary-Jo having a baby through artificial insemination but for some reason totally dropped that story and never mentioned it again.

1 of those did air. The Puerto Rican day parade. The other was never even made. The one where Kramer says blacks never order a salad.

LOL..that's pretty much true.
