Adult Swim announces a Blade Runner anime series - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

Blade Runner-Black Lotus will take place in 2032 using some of the established characters from the Blade Runner universe. It will consist of 13 half-hour episodes and be mostly connected to the recent Blade Runner 2049 film. Shinichiro Watanabe, who wrote and directed three Blade Runner anime shorts, will helm the new series. “I first saw Blade Runner in 1982, at age 11,” said Jason DeMarco, senior vice president and creative director at Adult Swim. “It has remained one of the defining films of my life. To be able to explore more of this universe, with the incredible talent we have on board, is a dream come true.” Blade Runner-Black Lotus will air as part of Adult Swim's anime programming block, Toonami.

I never saw the original movie but I saw the sequel and I hated it. Now I have to see the original and I'm going to look forward to the anime series.

Blade Runner has to be the most boring science fiction movie ever made. But like the Emperors Clothes, if you say that, you will be called an idiot.

Blade Runner is awesome. Blade runner 2049 is not. I dont see this doing well at all but it will be interesting to see how they expand upon the universe.
