NBC's two-hour Wednesday block of Christmas in Rockefeller Center and A Legendary Christmas with John and Chrissy "had all the warmth of a fixed rictus," says Robyn Bahr. Christmas in Rockefeller Center, in particular, was a "monotonous stream of advertisements interrupted by awkward hosting, wan celebrity Christmas carols, cloying inspirational segments and cringey NBC corporate plugs repeating contiguously until someone flipped a switch to bedazzle a 72-foot Norway spruce," says Bahr. Meanwhile, A Legendary Christmas didn't work. "I like that this special predominantly features people of color, and the stars' heart is apparent, but none of the post-modern setup nourishes their talents or gives their natural chemistry opportunity to bloom," says Bahr. |

When it comes to holiday programming NBC has always been the king of the holidays. With such successes like Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and Christmas In Rockefeller Center it's no wonder why NBC is home of the holidays but what I think is NBC gets most of their money from Christmas themed commercials because NBC is the perfect spot to promote commercials for the holidays. But I do feel that NBC's biggest holiday moneymaker is exclusive holiday music specials with artists such as Gwen Stefani Michael Buble Blake Shelton and many other artists and every time these specials appear they bring in huge ratings to NBC because they are considered holiday traditional shows everyone can watch to get into the holiday spirit. But if NBC would have it's own animated holiday specials like CBS does with it's block of Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer Frosty The Snowman Frosty Returns and The Story Of Santa Claus I think it would earn NBC impressive ratings during the holidays
