I heard that it cost Mad Men around $250,000 just to use about a minute of a Beatles song in their show. With one episode of The Wonder Years, however, they showed them performing on the Ed Sullivan Show for about a solid three minutes. From this article, it cost them 75k to license that clip for The Wonder Years. That would be about 150k in modern money, according to the first inflation calculator Google pulled up.
