The former America's Got Talent host has signed a larger overall deal with Fox. As part of the deal, he'll develop and host a weekly talk show that will tackle pop-culture and feature high-profile celebrity interviews, music performances and stand-up comics.

"Nick Cannon", a new daytime syndicated talk show, which had been set for an Oct. 5 national launch, will not debut this year. I hear production has shut down on the talker in the latest fallout from the anti-Semitic remarks the actor-comedian recently made on his podcast.

“We are standing by Nick in our hope that by fall 2021 he will be able to use his extraordinary talent and platform to entertain, enlighten & unite his audience on the Nick Cannon talk show,” the companies behind the show, Lionsgate and its division Debmar-Mercury, said in a statement, in which they condemned anti-Semitism and racism.

Nick Cannon is a Democrat, and definitely a lot more involved in the party than your run-of-the-mill Hollywood liberal. Let’s start with Obama. Cannon was a big supporter in 2008. He hosted a fundraiser for Obama in Los Angeles where he said it was “an honor to be on the same stage” as the future president.

And in 2012, he said he thought Obama was “absolutely” taking the country in the right direction.8 Then he not only attended the president’s second inauguration, but hosted the Kids Inaugural concert before the main event.

Well, obviously he's highly qualified to host a talk show in America.

Nick Cannon's daytime talk show is back on. The syndicated strip, titled "Nick Cannon", is set to debut in fall 2021.

Lionsgate's Debmar-Mercury will distribute the show, with Fox Television Stations serving as the lead affiliate group. Cannon's show had initially been set to launch in fall 2020 but was pushed back following anti-Semitic remarks Cannon made on his Cannon's Class podcast last summer.

"We, along with our many other strong broadcast partners, are excited to be able to bring Nick's unique, light-hearted and entertaining style to the daytime audience starting this fall," Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said in a statement.

Nick Cannon’s talk show is being canceled after just six months on the air, Page Six is told.

Sources say that staff at the nationally syndicated show have yet to be informed. But we’re told many of them were already looking for new jobs because the outlook seemed bleak for the struggling show.

The star snagged the gig in 2020 after impressing producers with his daytime talents when he filled in for Wendy Williams during her long absence due to ill health.

The former Mr. Mariah Carey was also a hot commodity when the show was announced because Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” which he hosted, had become the No. 1 new show, drawing “more than 17 million… viewers in its record-breaking 2018 debut” according to Deadline.

Today is scheduled to be the final day of production for Cannon's syndicated daytime talk show, which launched last September after a year-long delay. "The show’s producer-distributor, Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury, is expected to tell the crew that the two episodes filming today will be the talker’s last ones," according to Deadline's Nellie Andreeva. "I hear the original plan had been for the show to go on a five-week hiatus while Nick Cannon is busy filming Fox’s The Masked Singer and VH1’s Wild 'N Out, with the crew getting a week of pay during the break. Nick Cannon will instead permanently shut down production, with the crew getting severance." The show won't go off the air right away since there are enough episodes for the entire season. Nick Cannon, which was supposed to premiere in fall 2020 but was pushed back one year because of Cannon's anti-Semitism controversy, was the lowest-rated single-host daytime syndicated talk show this season.
