NBC's Manifest premiered as the No. 2-rated show of Monday night, building on The Voice's viewership with 10.3 million viewers. The Big Bang Theory returned for its final season down 41% in the 18-49 demo. Magnum P.I., with 8.1 million viewers, came in third place in its timeslot, losing to 9-1-1 and The Voice.

I liked Manifest, it reminded me of a cross between The X-Files & Lost. I didn't care too much for the new Magnum P.I. but I'll watch one more episode before I decide if I want to continue watching it.

Manifest looked like a good idea for a TV series, but I must admit to being disappointed in the pilot episode. I worry about a pilot episode missing the mark, the writers, and production team obviously have more time getting the final product prepared than they will once the weekly episode grind kicks in.

I thought more could have been done with the establishing premise, a plane leaves Jamaica in 2013 and lands in upstate New York five and a half years later, in tact with the passengers and crew just a few hours older than when they took off. Seems interesting enough for a first episode, why not spend the bulk of the episode at the airport dealing with the immediate problem at hand. Why rush through the airport scenes?

I thought the casting could have been a little stronger, outside of Athena Karkanis the rest of the cast seemed underwhelming. In addition, their was zero chemistry between JR Ramirez and Melissa Roxburgh, Ramirez playing could have been fiancé who moved on, how do you sell this major plotline when the actors just don't click?

A lot of this may work itself out, it will be interesting to see what the audience numbers look like the next few weeks, I'll be back for at least one more episode and we'll take it from there.

I just wish the start had been better.
