Default Ellen Pompeo hints she may be done with Grey's Anatomy after Season 16

https://tvline.com/2018/09/21/greys-...-ellen-pompeo/

When Entertainment Weekly asked Pompeo if she'll continue on the ABC medical drama after her contract expires in 2020, she responded: "I’m clearly not prepared right now to make any formal announcement about what my future is on the show, but I am really feeling like we have told the majority of the stories that we can tell. It’s about time that I mix it up. I’m definitely looking for a change."

I also read recently that she said after Grey's, she's not acting anymore. Whatever. I hope she saved her money.

Grey's Anatomy boss reacts to Ellen Pompeo hinting she may leave after next season

"You know, if you look back over the years, Ellen has said some version of that many times," showrunner Krista Vernoff said when Deadline asked about Pompeo's recent Entertainment Weekly interview hinting that she may exit after Season 16. "Ellen, one of the most palpable powerful things about her is her restlessness. You feel her restlessness in life and you feel her restlessness on camera and so her constant challenge to me is to dig in and reinvent. She wants to change it up. I don’t know whether it was actually her intention to hint that the end of the show is coming or whether or not that was a headline that somebody else ran with, but it’s not a conversation that I’ve been a part of. I’m doing what I do, and when Ellen and Shonda (Rhimes) and ABC all sit me down together and say start building the end, I will believe it. But until then you know I hear that as Ellen being Ellen. Ellen is restless in the best way. She’s constantly putting forth a challenge, and I love picking up that gauntlet and trying to meet her there." ALSO: Could Grey's disappointing Season 15 premiere ratings signal the end of the line?

16 years is a long time to star in a tv show and you can't blame her for wanting to do something different. The show could probably still do fine if she leaves, since there are so many characters that could step in and fill the gap. Whatever she decides, the fans will always wish her the best of luck.

I did state over a year ago that the only way for Grey's Anatomy could end is if Ellen Pompeo left the show. Why should the show continue without Pompeo at all? I think there'll be a ratings decline for GA if that happens.

"Stay Safe"? More like "Stay Sad".

Shonda Rhimes has stated that "Grey's" will end when Ellen Pompeo decides to leave.

https://www.cnn.com/2017/11/09/enter...peo/index.html

When "Grey's" ends, the characters could still pop up on "Station 19", as long as that show is still airing, since the injured are usually sent to Grey Sloan.

As of now, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) appears the most since she's married to Ben (Jason George) and is Captain Pruitt's (Miguel Sandoval) doctor.
