Default NBC is poised to be No. 1 in the 52-week Nielsen season for the first time in 16 year

https://variety.com/2018/tv/news/nbc...rs-1202935691/

The Peacock has overtaken CBS as America's most-watched network in every ratings measure, including total viewers. The last time NBC was No. 1 was in the 2001-2002 season.

Good for them. Now maybe CBS will stop with the obnoxious promos during football games and awards shows, patting themselves on the backs for being the #1 network.

They finally stopped saying "ONLY CBS" every 5 minutes.

So, how long before CBS starts to suffer a collapse in ratings and viewership after The Big Bang Theory ends?

NBC has always been my favorite network historically.

Same. Especially during the 80s. They had a great daytime and primetime lineup in the mid-80s.

NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt is poised to step down after leading NBC's turnaround over the past eight years

Greenblatt, who is expected to step down from his job in May, "has engineered an impressive rebound for the network after ... years in the ratings cellar," reports Variety. "NBC has been a roll in the last two years in particular thanks to the buzzy hit This Is Us. Under Greenblatt, NBC has finished four of the last five seasons as the top-rated primetime network in the 18-49 demo. NBC also finished the 52-week 2017-18 season as the No. 1 network in nearly every ratings measure, including total viewers — the first time since 2001-02 that NBC has taken the total-viewers crown."

NBC Entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt is stepping down today

Greenblatt led a remarkable turnaround of NBC, from the gutter to No. 1, over the past eight years. On Friday, it was reported that he was expected to leave the network at the end of the 2018-19 TV season. But in a surprise move, he is stepping down today. He'll be replaced by NBC reality chief Paul Telegdy and George Cheeks, a "rising star at the company." Greenblatt says that he had long considered stepping down, despite signing a new contract just last year. “You do get weary in these jobs,” he told The New York Times. “With the daily changes that go on, you’re constantly reconfiguring the business. I’m just really excited about doing something. Whatever I do will be some new challenge. These jobs are really relentless.”

Good on Greenblatt for stepping down at the point that was best for him. He...certainly earned his retirement that's for damn sure. I'm very rarely at a real loss for words, at times having far too many and long winded posts! But, in the case of NBC's complete turn around story I'm conpletely at a loss for words. Absolutely stunned and floored! NBC was in ultra serious trouble when Greenblatt took over, serious enough at one point even to consider ending the network! Bob took a lot of very bold, incredibly risky moves that he truly believed in and because of that almost every one of them paid off! I do love Superstore, which I was incredibly intrigued by the premise and setting of when it premiered. Never did I think in my wildest imagination, even though I hoped it would, take off and be a hit the way it has. I still have to catch up with that show! I give NBC a ton of credit, they totally turned it around!

I'll be damned, I guess taking bold risks, throwing atuff at the wall and seeing what sticks CAN work sometimes. Job well done Bob!
