August 30: Happy Birthday Jessica Henwick

Jessica Henwick is celebrating her 26th birthday today. Henwick was born and grew up in England and trained at the National Youth Theatre in London. She made her screen debut in 2009, starring on the BBC children’s series Spirit Warriors. Henwick then appeared as a recurring character on the British legal drama Silk. American TV audiences probably first got to know her as Nymeria Sand during seasons 5-7 of Game of Thrones.

For the past year and a half, Henwick has been part of the television branch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Colleen Wing. She has been a regular on Iron Fist and the miniseries The Defenders, and has also made a crossover appearance on Luke Cage.



On the big screen, Henwick is probably best known for the role of X-wing pilot Jess Pava in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Her character did not return for The Last Jedi, but the semi-official word has been that Jess is alive but offscreen. Subsequently, Henwick has appeared in several short films and the romantic drama Newness. She will costar in the upcoming action thriller Underwater.
