As Law & Order: SVU preps for its 20th season, showrunner Michael Chernuchin says there are so many storylines left to tackle that the series could keep on going for years, especially in wake of the #MeToo movement. Chernuchin tells TV Guide that "we're dealing with things that are on the front page in the papers every day. Now, more than ever." And as long as Mariska Hargitay is aboard, SVU can keep on chugging along. He adds: "This whole #MeToo movement... it's everywhere. Even though we've been touching on it for 19 years, we may do a full-blown episode on that." Chernuchin's primary goal is getting a greenlight for a record-breaking 21st season. But he a had to put a number on when SVU will call it quits, he already has one in mind: "I'd like to get to 500 episodes. That's a nice round number, isn't it?" SVU aired its 434th episode on Wednesday. |
