Hugh Grant could've been Doctor Who, but the 2004 offer never made it past his agent

Russell T. Davies, who helmed Doctor Who from 2005 to 2010, is finally getting to work with Grant on the BBC miniseries A Very English Scandal. Davies originally wanted Grant for Doctor Who, but the actor has no recollection of the offer. "We did ask him to be Doctor Who in 2004," says Davies. I have to say, that never got past his agent. I told him this. He was completely oblivious. With that level of star, you approach the agent and they just kick it out the window. 'Would Hugh like to come to Cardiff for a year?' 'No!'"
