Clayne Crawford dropped from Lethal Weapon as producers seek an actor to replace him
Tonight's Lethal Weapon Season 2 finale will mark Crawford's last appearance on the Fox series as producers have decided that he won't be back if Fox renews the on-the-bubble show for a third season. According to TV Line, "Fox and its studio partner Warner Bros. are actively searching for an actor to replace the embattled actor in the role of Martin Riggs. The outcome of the 11th hour recasting effort will largely determine whether Fox renews the series for Season 3." Crawford's ouster comes two weeks after it was reported that he had “been disciplined several times over complaints of emotional abuse and creating a hostile environment." According to The Hollywood Reporter, "multiple actors have had the offer to take over the role for a potential third-season and have passed as the process continues ahead of Fox's upfront presentation to Madison Avenue ad buyers Monday." Neither Warner Bros. TV nor Fox has commented on Crawford's status. |

Hate to hear that he was fired from the show. He made a really good Martin Riggs.

The show's dead. Replacements hardly ever work especially with a lead.

Lethal Weapon's Clayne Crawford: "Wait, wait, wait......you can’t fire me on my day off!"
The actor tweeted a hilarious reaction to being fired today from the Fox drama. Lethal Weapon aired its Season 2 (and possibly series) finale tonight, which was filmed before accusations of bad behavior against Crawford went public. |

Too bad they couldn't work things out and continue the show as it was. It did look like there was some tension between them on the finale.

Meanwhile, an earlier article about the show's drama said Damon Wayans doesn't like to rehearse. Instead, he wastes everyone's time by figuring out his delivery over more takes than should be necessary. |

Clayne Crawford speaks out about Lethal Weapon firing, describing "blatant f*cking lies"
Crawford said on the Drinkin' Bros. podcast that he has yet to receive a formal call that he has been fired from the Fox drama. "I just didn't think they were going to get rid of me, I guess," he said, according to TV Guide. "And if they did, I thought they'd give me a buzz... just a jangle? Just grab two cans and a string and just be like, 'You're not coming back. We feel like this is the Damon Wayans Show and people just don't like you. So go the f*ck back to Alabama you dumb hick, thanks for playing.'" Crawford said that when news of his on-set clashes first broke, Warner Bros. TV president Peter Roth urged him to apologize publicly to Wayans after he issued a statement apologizing for his bad behavior. Crawford also said that he was being blackmailed with tapes of him calling Wayans the "biggest crybaby p*ssy" and yelling at kids while filming -- tapes that were later published by Variety. "I knew that they were going to release these tapes because they'd been blackmailing me with them for months and months and months, the entire second season," Crawford said. "And I have all the text messages from these people and voicemails from these people saying, 'Obviously you're not the problem, but you've got to get ahead of this because you know they're going to use those tapes against you.'" |
