The CW Renews "Jane the Virgin" for 5th and Final Season
The CW Renews 10 Series
by Nellie Andreeva April 2, 2018 The CW has given an early renewal to the bulk of its lineup, picking up all returning series on its fall schedule for the 2018-19 season. “As The CW expands to a six-night, Sunday-through-Friday schedule next season, we are proud to have such a deep bench of great returning series for 2018-19. By picking these ten series up for next season, we have a terrific selection of programming to choose from when we set our fall schedule in May, with more still to come,” said The CW president Mark Pedowitz. “And I’m especially happy that we’ll continue to work with the incredibly talented casts, producers, and writers who create the series our fans are so passionate about.” Praised comedies "Jane the Virgin" (Season 5) and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" (Season 4) were renewed for what could be the duo’s final seasons. http://deadline.com/2018/04/the-cw-r...nd-1202356900/ |

"Jane the Virgin", "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", "iZombie" To End after Upcoming Seasons
by Nellie Andreeva and Denise Petski May 17, 2018 It’s official. The CW’s comedies "Jane the Virgin" and "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" will end after their upcoming fifth and fourth seasons, respectively. Additionally, the network revealed this season that the upcoming fifth season of comedic drama "iZombie" also will be its last, making for string of farewells on The CW next season. It will start with "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend", which is on the fall schedule, and continue in midseason with "Jane the Virgin" and "iZombie". The announcement is not a surprise. Ahead of "Jane the Virgin‘s" fifth season renewal, star Gina Rodriguez had referred to a then-potential Season 5 as “our final season.” http://deadline.com/2018/05/jane-the...cw-1202392949/ |

Jane the Virgin creator on planned series finale: "It’s the ending I pitched when I pitched the show"
"When I first thought about the show, I thought it would run four years, and then after the second year, I thought, 'We have enough to take us through five seasons,'" Jennie Snyder Urman says of ending The CW series after five seasons. "We started to have those discussions in Season 3. The studio and the network were always really supportive. (CW president) Mark Pedowitz told me early on, “'Tell me when it ends. Just give me enough notice.' I was really grateful to have that, because you don’t often have that leeway and confidence, and the foresight to be able to plan your ending. Gina (Rodriguez) and I are creative partners, and we talk about everything, and we were on the same page. It’s the ending I pitched when I pitched the show. I couldn’t have pitched them a million of the details that have happened along the way, and it doesn’t have to do so much with the plot and with all the twists and turns. But the overall structure and what I wanted to say about certain things — structurally, that’s built into the ending." |
