...a distorted view of patient care
https://www.minnpost.com/second-opin...pital-policies In a "duh" study published Monday in the journal Trauma Surgery & Acute Care, two physicians and a nurse practitioner from St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix reviewed all 269 episodes from the first 12 seasons of Grey's Anatomy. For the 290 patients who appeared on those episodes, they calculated an Injury Severity Score for each patient, based on their injuries and length of stay in the hospital. They then compared those results with real-life patients. Their conclusion? “The balancing act between the presentation of the realistic and the dramatic can actually result in a skewed perception of reality among television viewers,” the researchers found. |
