Default Mary Ann Mobley as Maggie - Not on Season 8 Cover Art

Shout! Factory did not include Mary Ann Mobley as Maggie on Season 8 Cover Art. They included Dixie Carter as Maggie on Seasons 6 and 7 Cover Art. Shout! Factory should redo the Season 8 Cover Art.

I'm glad she's not on the cover. She was horrible as Maggie, Dixie should've stayed....or season 7 should've been the last.

I bet it was deliberate. Why have that terrible actress on the cover, reminding people of how bad the show was that year?

Dixie Carter was a draw. Mary Ann Mobley was comedy poison.

I don’t know why Dixie Carter didn’t stay for Season 8. Designing Women didn’t start until September 1986. Diff’rent Strokes - Season 8 was on from September 1985 until March 1986. She could have stayed on Diff’rent Strokes for their last season. Dixie Carter was the better Maggie.

Didn't she get fired or left because of issues with Gary Coleman? One of the longest running rumors about this show is Dixie and Gary didn't get along and he was the reason she didn't come back for season 8. She ended up doing fine after she left the series so it's good she got out when she did.

I did hear that she left the show because of her and Gary Coleman didn't get along. Yes she did just fine.

Mary Ann Mobley appeared in 12 out of 19 season 8 episodes. She was also in a season 2 episode playing Arnold's teacher.

Mary Ann Mobley was a good actress, but not very funny. She also was not very convincing as being Southern. The only Southern thing she had to say was "hush".

And it didn’t help she was absent for 7 episodes.

Interestingly, Mary Ann Mobley once guest starred on Designing Women alongside Dixie Carter:
