Why didn't Berlinda Tolbert get her own JEFFERSONS spinoff - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

They spun off Florence instead and it only lasted about a month. Consider that Lionel and Jenny's marriage ended in divorce like Mike and Gloria Stivic's did, and consider that Gloria was cancelled along with Archie Bunker's Place despite both of them still getting good ratings. Yet, AfterMASH got a second season. Maybe a show about Jenny and Jessica starting over could have worked. If nothing else, it couldn't have been worse than the Melba Moore show (produced by Columbia after they bought Embassy albeit with the same production staff as What's Happening Now!!) that CBS aired the day of the Challenger explosion.

It would've been a total bomb!

Everyone knows the STAR of the Jeffersons was George! After George then Florence and then the Willises were the stars.

I just don't see interesting storylines with Jenny and Jessica. Now a Lionel & Jenny show could've worked for 1 or 2 seasons. But how would they explain what happened to George and Louise??

Plus at the end of the Jeffersons Lionel and Jenny broke up so they couldn't have had their own show anyway!
